DD (a.k.a. Allyson Lipkin) is a multi-instrumentalist from Austin that plays sax, drums, bass, keys, and while on stage: guitar and multi-tracked loops. Engineering has become a passion for this femme-auteur and she uses her varied skills to layer sounds that compliment her loosely fitted guitar parts/vocals.

Musically she can be described as Holly Golightly meets Polly Jean Harvey: two of the music industries leading ladies in her eyes; But DD has developed her own act using a personal style of singing/songwriting steeped in power chords, bluesy runs, and electronic beats. Topped with vocal expression that goes from quiet to angry rapidly and emotionally - without pretense and pomp- it's easy to hear her rawness cutting through the blues.

The new record "Femmie Auteur" will be self-released April of 2009. It is recorded in DD’s South Austin Parlour and reflects her desire to move into the 21st tech-century with electronic beats, haunting sounds, and improvised noise. Mastered and mixed by Cris Burns (Pocket Fisherman, Bismeaux Studio) he rockets her sound quality into the 5th dimension.

Notable recent events for DD include 2 tours this summer to the Pacific NW and Southern California; A special recording/collaboration with Tin Hat’s Mark Orton (film composer: Everything’s Illuminated, The Real Dirt on Farmer John) of Johnny and the Shondell’s classic Crimson and Clover; and a tour to the East Coast Oct. of 2008 with Mishka Shubaly of Beat The Devil.
